New Grad Profile: Alexander Glista (MPlan’20)
This past Spring new grad Alex Glista (MPlan ’20) found himself walking across a virtual stage into an uncertain future. Like most new grads across the country and due to widespread pandemic restrictions, Alex was faced with a slow job market and limited networking opportunities. When the opportunity for a passion project emerged, Alex jumped on it! And in true Dal Planning style, the project is very unique – Alex was the successful bidder on a decommissioned 1981 TTC streetcar!

Ron Wickman’s (MArch’91) dedication to Barrier-Free Design
Ron Wickman was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and in 1991 received his Masters of Architecture at the Technical University of Nova Scotia. Influenced by life with his paraplegic father, he set up his own Edmonton based practice in January 1995 focusing on barrier-free design. He is passionate about using architecture to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Nova Tayona Architects, led by Nova Tayona (MArch’02), is a Toronto-based architectural and design studio. It provides thoughtful architectural spaces that reflect a client’s needs and budget. The firm’s focus is on residential and small-scale new-construction, renovation, and interiors.
Waymark Architecture: a partnership for positive change
Waymark Architecture is a collaborative, expertise driven firm informed by science, ethics, and the arts. Will King (MArch ’00) and Graeme Verhulst (MArch ’12) are inspired by architecture’s potential to contribute to positive change, and started Waymark in Victoria, BC in 2015 as a means to amplify their impact.
In his own words: a reflection on international architectural practice by Hugo Hardy (BEDS’00)
Hugo Hardy is a graduate of Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Environmental Design program who went on to complete his Masters degree in Holland at the Berlage institute in 2002. 8 years ago he established his practice in Berkhamsted, England. Chelseay is inspired by people’s passion for their communities and plans to continue her career in the municipal sector upon completion of her Internship.
