Patty Cutell Busby

Patty Cuttell Busby (BA’92, MURP (TUNS)’98) is the new executive director of Halifax’s North End Business Association. In an interview with the Chronicle Herald she discussed the challenges of promoting economic development in the north end while maintaining its entrepreneurial and artistic spirit. Cuttell Busby, who also teaches at Dal’s School of Planning, hopes her background in strategy and urban planning will help the existing community find this balance with the new developments. Another alumnus, Peter Burbridge (BSc’06, MBA’09), set up his North Brewing Company in the north end.

The association is supporting the North By Night Market at Squiggle Park, 2055 Gottingen St., beginning this Friday and running every second Friday each month through summer. It features food trucks, including Natalie Chavarie (BA’06)’s The Food Wolf, vendors, crafts and music.
