Hey, remember lectures? We’re bringing class to you this time – for old times’ sake. Join the Toronto Alumni Chapter, local students of the incoming Class of 2020, and the general public for a free lecture and reception.

Duncan MacIntosh is a Professor of Philosophy at Dalhousie University and an executive board member of the Centre for Ethics and the Rule of Law think tank at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Prof. MacIntosh will explore questions like: Is the world well-served by the existence of the defense industry? Is terrorism a military problem or a social problem? How is a society to defend itself when its own sense of right and wrong is used as a weapon against it? Would warfare be better conducted using automated weapons systems (killer robots)? Should democracies tolerate some of their laws being kept secret from their own citizens?

The lecture promises to be engaging and thought-provoking, and will be followed by a reception complete with great East Coast-themed refreshments and the opportunity for networking.

We are also seeking a small number of alumni volunteers to greet guests as they arrive, and to speak with incoming students as a Dalhousie alum. If you are interested, please indicate so on the registration form.
