Using projects and studies from RISD Catalyst, Yeadon Space Agency, and elsewhere, Peter Yeadon will demonstrate a materials-driven approach to design innovation. His talk will include reflections on some of the challenges that it presents to the imagination.

Peter Yeadon is an academic and practitioner. He is a Professor of Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he explores materials-driven innovation with his students, and where he recently served as Head of the Department of Industrial Design. Prior to RISD, Peter taught at Cornell University, the University of Toronto, and Dalhousie University.

Peter emigrated from Canada to the United States in 2002. He lives in New York City, where he founded an architecture and design consultancy called Yeadon Space Agency. His practice mostly focuses on projects that incorporate substances with novel properties, including various smart materials, nanomaterials, and biomaterials that respond to changes in their environment.
