Karen Furneaux

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Dalhousie graduate and Olympian, World Champion Karen Furneaux (MScKin’06) will launch her first book: Strong Beauty: Power Up the Champion Within on March 8th at the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame.

Ms. Furneaux is a three-time Olympian and two-time World Champion in the sport of sprint kayaking. She has won over 50 international medals, is a two-time finalist for Canada’s Female Athlete of the Year and a four-time winner of Nova Scotia Female Athlete of the Year. She is also President and CEO of I Promise Performance, Inc. which engages audiences about the connection between health, mindset and performance. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie with a specialization in Sport Psychology.

Ms. Furneaux’s book, Strong Beauty is focused on empowering young women to find their unique power, strength and voice to connect to the world and be their best.  Her vision is to reach many under-served communities.  Her book is available on Amazon and she is donating $5 from each book sale to go towards the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame Education Program.
