Several Dal alumni-led startups have received funding from Innovacorp in the past fiscal year.

Nova Scotia’s provincial innovation agency (Innovacorp) has reported investing $5.9 million in fourteen local companies between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015.

QRA Corp., a company that detects design problems early in development for machine manufacturers, received $1 million in Innovacorp funding. Led by CEO Jordan Kyriakidis (BSc’93, MSc’95), pictured above, the company grew out of a research project Kyriakidis and his colleagues undertook at Dalhousie.

Other alumni-led companies that received Innovacorp funding in the past fiscal year include:

  • Spring Loaded Technology, co-founded by CEO and President Chris Cowper-Smith (BSc’06, MSc’09), CTO Bob Garrish (BSc’05, MASC’12) and Shea Kewin (BMGT’13)
  • CEO Thomas Rankin‘s (MBA’04) and CTO Tomasz Niewiarowski‘s (MCSc’13) Dash Hudson
  • LeadSift, co-founded by Sreejata Chatterjee (BCSc’07), Tukan Das (BCSc’07), and Hatem Nassrat (BCSc’06, MCSc’09)
  • Braden Murphy‘s (BEng’10, MASc’13) Atlantic Motor Labs Inc., run alongside partner Nick Murray (BEng’12)
