Dash Hudson websiteThe Dalhousie alumni behind tech startup, Dash Hudson, have raised $1 million to help the company grow. CEO Thomas Rankin (MBA’04) and chief technical officer (CTO), Tomasz Niewiarowski (MCSc’13) launched Dash Hudson in late 2013 as an e-commerce fashion site for men. Since then, they’ve changed their model to work more closely with the fashion industry, advertising products on Instagram. The idea is that the shopping experience can be fully carried out on the user’s mobile device through social media. The company reportedly has in “the low tens of thousands” of users.

This most recent funding is perhaps the result of the impressive network of leading advisers and investors in both the technology and fashion worlds the company has secured. This group includes Paul Gauthier (BScCS’94), Groupon’s CTO from 2010 to 2013 who contributed seed funding for the company.
