Dal alumnus and President of Scotiabank, Brian Porter (BComm’80, LLD’08) is encouraging businesses in Nova Scotia and across Canada to invest in markets beyond the United States. Porter suggests that markets in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region are growing at a quick rate. He says, “By 2030, the individual GDP of countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico, Vietnam and Nigeria are on pace to outgrow Canada. … That’s not that far away.”

Porter will be visiting Halifax this month for Scotiabank’s 181st annual shareholders meeting. Of Nova Scotia, he says, “I love the people; I love the area.”
