With the increasing reach of the internet bringing children into contact with sexual information earlier and earlier, Dr. Jillian Roberts (BEd’92) decided it was time to create a resource to help parents and educators talk to young children about the issue before they learn about it online.

Dr. Roberts has brought the concept to life through a series of culturally sensitive and respectful children’s books titled “Just Enough.” The themes of the books will range from sexual education to diversity, death and divorce.

The first book, Where Do Babies Come From: Our First Talk About Birth, has just been released by Orca Book Publishers.

Dr. Roberts is a child psychologist and associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Victoria. Through the “Just Enough” series, she is able to put research findings about the impact of early sex education on children’s health into practice, and share them with the community at large.
