Dr. Richard J. Currie (BEng (NSTC)’60, DEng (NSTC)’95, LLD’10) has been namedDr. Richard J. Currie (BEng (NSTC)'60, DEng (NSTC)'95, LLD'10) New Brunswick’s Humanitarian of the Year for his philanthropic efforts.

The Engineering alumnus has significantly contributed to a variety of educational, cultural and community causes in New Brunswick.

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick has been a chief beneficiary of Dr. Currie’s philanthropy. The program provides New Brunswick students with a medical education from Dalhousie, at a satellite campus in St. John, NB.

This latest honour joins an impressive list of Dr. Currie’s accomplishments. Dr. Currie was inducted into the Order of Canada in 1997, is in the Canadian Business Hall of Fame and the New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame, was elected Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year in 2001, and was named one of Canada’s 10 greatest chief executives of all time by The Globe and Mail in 2005.
