Lady of the Lake album cover

This June, Maureen Batt (BMus’07) released her first album, Lady of the Lake. The album includes two song cycles based on Sir Walter Scott’s epic poem, featuring works by Franz Schubert and Fiona Ryan (BMus’02).

Batt is a soprano singer who grew up in Fredericton, N.B., studied music at Dalhousie and is now based in Halifax. She is co-artistic director of Essential Opera and has performed in operas and recitals globally. Fellow Dalhousie music alumni Batt and Ryan collaborated to create a song cycle with influences from folk music traditions and Nova Scotian and Scottish rhythmic patterns.

Lady of the Lake was released in collaboration with Halifax label Leaf Music. The album is available on iTunes, Amazon and Apple Music and Batt is currently on tour performing Lady of the Lake in Atlantic Canada.
