Mark de Jonge (BEng’09) named Air Canada athlete of the year
Mark de Jonge (BEng’09), world champion paddler and Dalhousie alumnus, has been selected as the 2015 Air Canada athlete of the year.
“There were just so many nice messages from people all over Canada,” he said in an interview with CBC News. “People talking about inspiration and what sport really means to them and it really makes me feel great to be a part of that.”
Previous winners of the Air Canada athlete of the year include speed skater Charles Hamelin in 2012, soccer star Christine Sinclair in 2013 and freestyle skier Alex Bilodeau in 2014.
