Not long ago, Spot Interactive was a budding Maritime startup competing to establish itself in the market. Now, under its new name, Spotful is seeing sales multiply as it expands even faster than anticipated.

Spotful has carved a niche for itself in the advertising world by providing tools for companies to allow their customers to make purchases while watching online videos, without interruption. Three months ago, Spotful’s technology was used on 30 videos. Last week, it was being featured on over 1,900 videos.

The company has taken its next big step by becoming a featured component on Shopify, a booming Ottawa-based tech company that helps businesses build e-commerce sites. Spotful’s CEO, Andrew Murray (BSc’10), anticipates that this exposure to Shopify’s 178,000 customer companies is likely to quadruple Spotful’s growing clientele.

The company was initially based out of Charlottetown, and now has teams in Montreal and Halifax. With the company growing exponentially, Murray highlights Spotful’s management structure and technology, which were built for rapid growth, as essential components to the company’s success.
