The Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF) has awarded a grant to a team comprised largely of Dal alumni for their innovative research project. Dr. Vivian Howard (MLIS’95), Dr. Christine Chambers (BSc’96), Dr. Penny Corkum (BSc’85, BScHc’87), doctoral student Michelle Tougas (BA’09, MSc’14), and Dr. Anatoliy Gruzd of Ryerson University will use the funds to develop their project, titled “Developing a Method for Studying Online Health Information Sharing over Social Media”.

The team will investigate how health-related content is shared through social media. With expertise in fields ranging from psychology to information management to community health and epidemiology, together they plan to develop, implement and evaluate a unique methodology to study the use of social media in sharing health information.
