Mahbubur Rahman (MASc'16)

Mahbubur Rahman (MASc’16) may have a full-time job and two small children, but he still makes time to serve on various boards and committees, and to show up whenever a call for volunteers goes out.

“Whenever there is a chance to do something and I’m free, I’m there. Sometimes I have to choose what to do if there are two or three things happening at the same time,” he told Metro Halifax. “The main motivation for me after doing a nine to five work day and then going to meetings for a few hours or to an event on the weekend? I just really enjoy doing this.”

While at Dal, he was In 2015 he received the Dalhousie Board of Governors’ Award and the Dalhousie International Spirit of the Year Award. Rahman’s community involvement this year earned him both Halifax Regional Municipality and provincial volunteer awards, plus he was recently named a “Halifax Hero” by the daily newspaper Metro Halifax.
