Emily Carr University of Art + Design announced the appointment of Geoff Plant (LLB’81), QC, as the institution’s second Chancellor, effective May 1, 2015.

Plant is a partner in the law firm Gall Legge Grant & Munroe LLP in Vancouver. He was elected to the BC Legislature in 1996 and from 2001 to 2005 served as Attorney General of British Columbia and Minister responsible for Treaty Negotiations. He then produced the report, Access and Excellence: the Campus 2020 for BC’s post-secondary education system. In 2012, Canadian Lawyer magazine named Plant one of the “Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada.”
