Dr. Asraa El-Darahali (DDS’13) is going the extra mile to put a smile on the face of Syrian refugees who have fled their home country amidst the ongoing conflict. In fact, she is traveling several thousand miles to do so.

The Dal Dentistry alumna will travel to the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan next month to perform free dental work for many of the camp’s 110,000 refugees. Afew dozen volunteers from the Syrian American Medical Society will join her on the trip.

Dr. El-Darahali and the other volunteers will provide cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and any other needed care that they are able to perform.

The trip is planned for November 13-20. Dr. El-Darahali and the other volunteers are largely financing the trip themselves, but are raising funds to purchase the needed dental equipment and supplies.
