Dr. Grace Keenan (BSc’80, BSc(H)’81) has been deemed one of 2012’s Women Who Mean Business. The series spotlights female Washington business leaders who are making a difference in their community and inspiring others through work in their industry or profession.

Dr. Keenan is the founder and CEO of Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center Inc. She started her business in 1988 and it is now one of Loudon County, V.A.’s largest primary care medical groups. Nova Medical Group works to be cost-efficient by reducing the number of doctors a patient might normally seek out. It’s found a niche by blending conventional western medicine with eastern therapies.

On leadership, Dr. Keenan says, “I see myself as a person with a vision who cares passionately about certain things. I choose to surround myself with a great team of people who also share my passion and commitment to executing these ideas.” She also shares advice on achieving work/life balance.
