Louis Deveau (BEng (NSTC)’57, LLD’07) is founder and chairman of Acadian Seaplants Ltd., which was recognized as Nova Scotia’s Exporter of the Year. His son, Jean-Paul Deveau (BSc’79, BEng (TUNS)’81) is the company’s president.

The Dartmouth-based seaweed processing company earned the honour May 21 at the 31st annual Export Achievement Awards in Halifax.

Founded in 1981, the firm now employs more than 325 people and exports to more than 80 countries — particularly the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, China and Japan.

The family-owned company was selected from the nine regional winners announced earlier this year. All the winners were celebrated at the event hosted by Nova Scotia Business Inc.
