Matthew-RosenbergMatthew Rosenberg (BEDS’07) was born and raised in Saskatoon, Sask. After leaving school he worked and studied across 24 cities, settling in Los Angeles. By 2012 he founded his architecture and design studio, M-Rad, in the heart of downtown trendy L.A.

M-Rad is an internationally recognized design practice that looks to re-conceptualize architecture and urban growth through social and environmental research so that climate and culture become the prominent drivers of design. They seek to create designs that respect local cultures and inspire a greater sense of community.

One to watch

In 2013, Interior Design Magazine featured Matthew as one of three “Ones to Watch.” Matthew has claimed several awards and honours including 2nd prize in the Land Art Generator Initiative competition and was a long list selection for his $320-million Cultural Precinct in Gold Coast, Australia.

Matthew is working on several notable projects across North America. His studio has been awarded a contract for a 740-foot hotel and condo tower in the Hudson Yards of Manhattan. He is also working on the headquarters and training lab for Blue Bottle Coffee Company in Oakland, California and has just begun concepts on two 11,000 square foot residential projects in Malibu. He has commenced work on two projects in Las Vegas. One is for an extreme sports park and hotel complex and the other is a new type of work-live tower for Tony Hsieh’s Downtown Project.
