Dalhousie alumnus Mike Francis

Halifax native Mike Francis (BComm’86) has made a career out of the game he loves. He is U.S. vice-president and general manager of Nike Golf, headquartered in Beaverton, Ore.

Francis started playing golf at Ashburn Golf Club and also worked there as a teenager. Following graduation from Dalhousie, he worked with companies, Wilson and Ram before joining Nike Golf in Toronto as general manager for Canada just as it was being set up in 2003. Francis continued with Nike Golf, moving to Amsterdam for the challenge of running the Europe/Middle East/Asia golf unit before taking on his current position in 2008.

While Francis doesn’t personally work with the Nike-sponsored golf stars, he has had a chance to golf with the likes of Tiger Woods, Suzann Pettersen, Michelle Wie and Paul Casey. The avid golfer returns to Nova Scotia once or twice a year to visit family and friends.
