A happy group of 62 Dalhousie Alumni gathered for Calgary’s annual lobster dinner at the International Hotel, downtown Calgary on May 27. The Engineering alumni joined the event for the first time, enhancing participation from members of our Dalhousie family.

The alumni in attendance spanned seven decades, with an alumna from the class of 1955 and recent graduates from the class of 2014.

Dean Dr. Joshua Leon, Faculty of Engineering, hosted the evening on behalf of Dalhousie and warmly welcomed everyone attending the dinner. Delightedly, Dean Leon spoke to the group about the success of the capital campaign for a new engineering facility to be built on campus.

The Calgary Alumni Chapter would like to thank two alumni for their contributions made during the evening. Peter Merchant (LLB’79), was the successful winner of the 50/50 draw, and magnanimously contributed his $175 in winnings to the Calgary Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Bill Ellsworth (BEng’80) provided diners with an entertaining Dutch auction at the end of the evening to ensure that the unclaimed lobsters went to a good home. The Calgary Chapter executive extends their thanks to Clearwater Seafoods for shipping the lobsters directly from Halifax, and the International Hotel for making the evening an enjoyable experience for everyone.
