Roberta Journeay (BSW’91) was one of 10 people recognized during the Digby & Area Board of Trade 11th Annual Business Excellence Awards on May 31. The Health Professions alumna received the Lifetime Achievement Award at an event attended by Minister of Immigration Lena Diab (MPA’87, LLB’90).

A native of B.C., Journeay worked as a teacher, often spending six-month terms working in Thailand and with Korean refugees on the border of Thailand and Burma. After retiring from teaching, she became involved in municipal politics.

Journeay is also well-known for her volunteer and community service. She currently serves with the Tri-County Women’s Centre, the Bethany Bargain Bin, the Women’s Institute of Nova Scotia and the Weymouth Historical Society.
