After her graduation Jane Casson (MArch ’18) turned to Architecture professor Elisa Dainese  to supervise her application of the research principles and tool kit designed for her master thesis to a more urban Canadian environment. Following some development, she decided to participate in the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) 2018 Designing Healthy Places Competition with a focus on the theme of “aging population”.

Jane’s design, entitled Caregive + Caretake, was awarded Winner in the “Housing for Aging” category. The competition was organized by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The competition generated 169 design submissions and the jurors chose five winners representing 5 of the 6 platforms; a 3% acceptance rate.

Jane’s winning design is published on the ACSA website and includes photos, project description and juror comments. It will be exhibited at the ACSA 107th Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA in March 2019.
