A weekend of celebration for Homecoming 2017
From October 11 to 15, nearly 6,000 alumni, students and other members of the Dalhousie community celebrated Homecoming. Along with staff and faculty, 140 alumni volunteers helped to plan and host 56 events across Dalhousie’s four campuses.
President’s Fun Run/Walk
On Saturday, October 14, the Dal community hit the streets for the 4th Annual President’s Fun Run/Walk. Over 700 alumni, students, faculty, staff and family members registered for this annual Homecoming favourite, followed by a healthy post-run breakfast. Faculty celebrations
From a lecture with Ray Ivany on civic engagement for dental professionals to reunion celebrations, alumni panels and an event commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the Halifax Explosion, each faculty provided opportunities for alumni, students, faculty and staff to connect during Homecoming.

Alumni Dinner and Awards
Close to 300 members of the Dal community, including several alumni reunion classes, celebrated the 2017 Dalhousie Alumni Award recipients at the annual Alumni Dinner on October 12. Parliamentary poet laureate George Elliott Clarke (MA’89, LLD’99) was honoured with the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award and three other outstanding alumni were recognized.
