PARRSBORO, N.S. — The good ship Kipawo has a new captain.

Richie Wilcox, a multi-talented director, writer, creator and dramaturge, has been named the new interim artistic director at Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro.

“I have spent a good amount of time in Parrsboro over the past couple years and I am very excited to come back to this beautiful part of the province and get to work with the Ship and the people in the community,” said Wilcox, who replaces Jack Patterson.

The New Waterford native has spent the better part of the last decade co-creating, devising, writing and directing new works.

Wilcox spent his formative years doing shows at Festival on the Bay and what was then called UCCB and learned from the best of Cape Breton at that time. Wilcox moved off the island for his education and graduated from Dalhousie University with a BA in theatre and, moving further off, followed up with a masters in theatre directing from Texas State University.
