Frock Box expands nationwide
Shanlyn Cunningham (BComm’06) and her business partners Jenna Hill and Jeanie Borremans have developed a solution for shoppers who find malls overwhelming: Frock Box.
The clothing subscription company ships packages of hand-selected clothing and accessories directly to its clients, providing an easy and personalized alternative to busy shopping malls.
Cunningham and her co-founders developed their business idea drawing from their own experiences as busy moms, who often found themselves disregarding fashion while prioritizing their careers and families.
“We didn’t have any time when we had kids…and we realized we weren’t alone,” said Jenna Hill in an interview with CBC. Thus emerged their entrepreneurial solution of Frock Box. “We wanted to bring personal styling to everybody. We wanted to make it accessible and affordable to everyone and that’s what we’ve done.”
When clients sign up for Frock Box, they complete a detailed survey indicating their clothing preferences, size, and style. The company then ships its customers monthly parcels of clothing picked out by a personal shopper. Clients buy the items they choose to keep and return the rest by mail.
Based in Edmonton, Frock Box now delivers to thousands of clients nationwide. After just over a year in business, the company is experiencing growth in every province in Canada.
