With CEO Thomas Rankin (MBA’04) at its helm, Instagram analytics company Dash Hudson closed a round of more than $2 million in funding. Major new clients were signed in 2016, accelerating growth. The company launched a few years ago, trying several business models and earning $1 million in funding in spring 2015.

Rankin and his co-founder Tomek Niewiarowski (MCSc’13) are having great success signing large brands that want to grow their presence on the social media network Instagram. The software-as-a-service tool analyzes market response to Instagram posts, which was not previously possible.

Dash Hudson was able to break-even last summer because of a surge in sales and has now increased hiring. Rankin says the company expects “exciting times ahead in 2017.”
