The Pictou Public Library Project Committee has selected the Antigonish architectural firm Archibald and Fraser Architects Ltd. to create the first design phase for Pictou’s new public library. The firm is led by architects Dale Archibald (BArch (NSTC)’74) and Robert Fraser (BArch (NSTC)’79), both alumni from the Nova Scotia Technical College (now the Dalhousie Faculty of Architecture and Planning).

Archibald and Fraser were selected from a competitive group, ultimately winning the bid based on their experience in library design and energy sustainability, their commitment to public consultation, and the price of their bid. The architects previously designed the Antigonish town and county library.

The Pictou library will be connected to the deCoste Centre, a performance theatre, which the library committee chairman believes will make the Pictou library even more of a hub for community learning and interaction.
