Dentistry alumni from the Class of 2004

A global community of alumni

Faculty of Dentistry alumni are at work in over 60 countries around the world, in practices, hospitals, universities, and volunteer clinics, helping to provide excellent oral health care to patients.

Our first four students graduated in 1912 and our first female dentist graduated in 1919. We celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2012 with over 1,100 dental alumni from around the world who came home to Dal for a lively reunion. We were also the first Canadian institution recognized by the ADEA Gies Foundation with the William J. Gies Award for Achievement.

Today, we have nearly 4,000 graduates of the Faculty of Dentistry and School of Dental Hygiene. Our alumni are presidents of regional, national, and international dentistry and dental hygiene associations, deans of dentistry schools, sought-after educators and clinicians, top researchers, and industry leaders. We are delighted that many alumni have returned to our Faculty to teach future generations of dentists.

Connect and engage

Our alumni volunteer as mentors for young grads, serve on expert panels, teach in the Faculty, volunteer in our outreach clinics, and support our clinic renewal campaign. Class reunions, Homecoming and regional events across the country connect alumni with their classmates, faculty, staff, and students.

Looking to the future

The Faculty of Dentistry clinic renewal project draws to a close in 2018, heralding a new group practice model of teaching and learning and enabling us to serve our patients and the community better.

Our loyal and committed alumni are helping to shape the future of dentistry.
