Speakers

Dr. Christine Chambers is a clinical psychologist, Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Children’s Pain and Killam Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience & Pediatrics at Dalhousie University. She is also the Scientific Director of Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP), whose mission is to improve children’s pain management by mobilizing evidence-based solutions through coordination and collaboration. Her research is aimed at improving the assessment and management of children’s pain. Her award-winning #ItDoesntHaveToHurt initiative for parents generated 150 million views worldwide, trended on social media, and was featured in national and international media. She was identified by the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women and is a leader and innovator in patient engagement, partnerships, and the mobilization of health research.

Dr. Natalie Rosen is a CIHR new-investigator and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience and Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dalhousie University, Halifax. Her research focuses on understanding how individuals, and especially couples, cope with genito-pelvic pain and translating her findings into targeted interventions. Dr. Rosen also maintains a small private practice focused exclusively on sex and couple therapy.

 

Dr. Shanna Trenaman is a Postdoctoral Fellow with Geriatric Medicine Research. Shanna completed her BScPharm, MAHSR and PhD at Dalhousie University. She is an Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Resident, having completed her hospital pharmacy residency at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in affiliation with Dalhousie University. Dr. Trenaman is a licensed pharmacist and practices as a hospital pharmacist in Nova Scotia.

As a clinician-scientist Dr. Trenaman’s research approaches the topic of appropriate drug use in older adults from the perspectives of pharmacology, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology and health services research. Her research interests are in polypharmacy, deprescribing, drugs used by older adults with dementia, anticholinergic medications, sex- and gender-based differences in drug use, and medication and health services use in relation to sex and gender.
