Professor returns to the recording studio

Three-time Dal grad, Porter Scobey (BSc’65, MA’69, PhD’77) is about to start his 53rd year of teaching mathematics and computing science at Saint Mary’s.

Dr. Scobey has also taken the pandemic opportunity to “restart” his long-dormant “recording career.” It started in the summer of 1975 when he was playing fire halls, legions, and the great – but now long-gone – Agricola Street watering hole “The El Strato” in a country music band.

He has been back in the studio and shares all of his musical links on his SMU homepage. His most recent (2021) effort (12 musicians and 3 background singers) is a tribute to New York City, based on a true story from a long-ago visit.
