Penny Tham
Vancouver Alumni Ambassador
Penny Tham is a proud graduate of Dalhousie Law School (LLB’84), and she has very fond memories of the camaraderie and friendships that she enjoyed at Dal. In her early career she was a corporate/commercial/securities lawyer in Vancouver B.C. After obtaining her LLM (Securities Regulation) from Georgetown University, she practiced law in Washington D.C. for several years before decamping to Asia where she worked for a number of international banks in their legal/regulatory departments. Penny was based in Singapore and then Hong Kong; this was followed by several years in London where she continued her work with financial institutions as a senior compliance and regulatory risk manager. Her last position was back in Washington D.C. with the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group. Penny retired in 2015 and returned to Vancouver where she grew up. Having been active in the Vancouver alumni community for several years, she is excited to be the Vancouver Alumni Ambassador, helping Dal alumni connect with each other and have fun in their city.
