Open Dialogue with Romeo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative; headshots Omar Khadr and Ishmael Beah

Event Details

The Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative, in partnership with Dalhousie University’s Open Dialogue series, is hosting an exclusive event with keynote speakers Omar Khadr and Ishmael Beah.

The event is a rare opportunity for public discussion around the complex issue of child soldiers. Mr. Khadr and Mr. Beah will highlight their experience in conflict and why they are passionate about the protection of children.

With remarks from Dr. Shelly Whitman and LGen the Hon. Roméo Dallaire, don’t miss your opportunity to be part of this compelling conversation.

The event coincides with the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers (Red Hand Day) on February 12. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Dallaire Initiative’s partnership with Dalhousie University.

Event proceeds will support the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative and help to continue its work preventing the recruitment and use of child soldiers. The suggested minimum donation is $10.

We will be taking audience questions online via Slido if you wish to familiarize yourself with the platform before the event.

Registration opens at 5:30 p.m. and doors at 6 p.m. Please arrive by 6:45 p.m. as entry will not be permitted once the event begins.
