Adam Casey
Alumnus and MASc student in Industrial Engineering, Adam Casey (BEng (Industrial)’13), will be representing P.E.I. at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary from Feb. 28 – March 8.

Casey started curling when he was seven years old, saying “My father introduced me to the game, he competed in the 1978 Brier and just loves the game.” Casey was immediately drawn to the strategy and the fine touch of athleticism that it requires. Casey explains that as a younger curler he loved the ability to compete, and similarly to golf, curling offers the opportunity for younger kids to compete against older kids and adults.

As he pursues his master’s degree while preparing and training for the Brier, time management can be tough for Casey. He tries to do as much as he can on the road, and puts in long hours in order to catch-up. Despite this, he’s excited and feels that the hard work is worth it.

“I think our team has progressed fantastically throughout the year. If we can get through the pre-qualifier I think we will surprise a lot of people with our performance. I have high expectations of our team and I want to win the Brier. But I also think that our team is in a unique position where we can have high aspirations, but because our team is young and new, we can also reflect and draw positives from the week, regardless of the outcome.”
