Since introducing a volunteer experience section for profiles three years ago, LinkedIn has now released an analysis of the social impact of its users. The global findings included a summary of where these members completed their post-secondary studies, and Dalhousie University has ranked 4th overall. In fact, according to LinkedIn, four out of the top five universities with the most alumni and students involved with volunteer activities are located in Canada.

The professionally-oriented social networking site reported that 10 million of its members have added the “Volunteer Experience and Causes” section to their profiles. The highest proportion of these members are in Canada and Western Europe with the millennial generation making up the majority (71%). LinkedIn suggests that integrating volunteerism into the work experience is the “new professional norm.”
