David Shannon (LLB'91)

Dan Harvey, David Shannon (LLB’91), centre, and Joshua Dvorkin are among the disabled actors appearing in Borne, by award-winning playwright Judith Thompson.

David Shannon (LLB’91), featured in our Building a Better World series, is well-known as former CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. His new role, however, puts Shannon in a different kind of spotlight.

Shannon is one of several disabled actors featured in Borne, a “positive story” about nine individuals struggling to overcome their physical barriers, and find their place in society.

“Being involved in a professional play is a dream come true,” says Shannon, who appears prominently in the play’s second act.

Borne is showing at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts until July 19.
