Susan (BEDS (TUNS)’98, MArFP’00) and David Scott (BEDS (TUNS)’98, MArFP’00) have won the prestigious 2016 Young Architect Award issued by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).

The husband-and-wife team are the founders of Scott & Scott Architects, a sought-after firm based in Vancouver, B.C.

RAIC’s Young Architect Award recognizes excellence in design, leadership and service to the profession among architects 40 or younger.

Among the contest jury members was fellow Dalhousie alumnus Brian MacKay-Lyons (BSc’73, BEDS (NSTC)’77, BArch (NSTC)’78) of Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects.

They are also committed to encouraging architectural education; Susan mentors interns at the Architectural Institute of British Columbia, while David has taught at the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

The pair will receive their award during the RAIC Festival of Architecture in Nanaimo, B.C., June 8 to 11.
