Robert Risley (DENGR’63, BEng (NSTC)’65) was faced with the important decision of whether or not to rebuild when fired destroyed his White Point Beach Resort on Nov. 12, 2011. Risley had owned the Nova Scotia resort for nearly 30 years and had experienced the ups and downs of the tourism industry. However, he really felt that rebuilding was the only option and that’s what he did, reopening in November 2012. White Point just had its best year in 2014 since 1988.
