MBA alumnus gaining traction with e-learning company
Sean Sears (MBA’89), an alumnus of Dalhousie’s Starting Lean program, is confident that sageCrowd is on the path to success. Sears is CEO of the Halifax company, an e-learning platform that provides competency-based skills training to corporations, particularly in the areas of sales and innovation. Since changing course several times, the company is gearing up, recently closing an additional $750,000 in seed capital. SageCrowd will also be heading to Boston to attend the incubator LearnLaunch to advise entrepreneurs, and to participate in a four-month acceleration program through the Canadian Technology Accelerator in the city.
One of the first companies to apply learning science to corporate training, sageCrowd works with well-known authors to deliver online content developed through its Insight-Scaffolding algorithm. Its method is based in behavioural economics, psychology and neuroscience to mimic the way people learn.
