Halifax-based inwater imaging company 4Deep has secured a new investment from a U.S. branch of a Chinese imaging technology company. BOSMA USA will provide $500,000 in equity to allow distribution of 4Deep’s products in China, Hong Kong and Macau as well as research and development in California’s Silicon Valley.

The Halifax technology firm designs and produces digital holographic microscopes which are submersible underwater.

4Deep’s CEO, Dr. Stephen Jones (BSc’90, PhD’01), explains that the new investment agreement will allow his firm to extend further into the Chinese market and continue to innovate cutting-edge technology. Before taking the helm at 4Deep, Dr. Jones completed his PhD in physiology and biophysics at Dalhousie.

Dalhousie has also recently entered into a research partnership with 4Deep to capture images of marine algae.
