The Chameleon

For Rebecca Singbeil (BA’14) and her business partner Allison Ghosn, change is not something to shy away from. The two are embracing change as the foundation of their new business, from being a part of a changing downtown Halifax to basing their business model on the concept of an adaptable space. Singbeil and Ghosn are opening shop at 1587 Barrington Street partly in order to play a role in what they see as a budding transformation in their city’s core.

The Chameleon will be a venue open for events planned through the young entrepreneurs’ own event planning company, Halio, as well as for external events — which they will help execute. They foresee the space being booked for hours, days or weeks at a time, by clients ranging from businesses to community groups.

What’s unique about The Chameleon is, as one might imagine, its adaptable nature. The event space will be quite flexible and dynamic, changing to meet the needs and themes of various events.

The venue’s soft launch on August 7th and 8th will feature a gourmet waffle night. Demonstrating Singbeil’s and Ghosn’s commitment to giving back to the community, the event will also serve as a fundraiser for Nourish Nova Scotia. How the space will look at the kick-off event is left to the imagination.
