Dr Natalie ArcherDr. Natalie Archer (BSc’95, DDS’01) specializes in geriatric dentistry through two clinics in Toronto. Her experiences prompted her to initiate the Dental Elderly Abuse Response (DEAR) Project to address the challenges of dental care for seniors in Toronto. The project’s research found that close to one in three seniors experience abuse or neglect when it comes to their dental health. The goal is to better connect these older adults, as well as their families and caregivers, with dentists to understand dental care and address issues such as mobility. Through education and resources, such as advanced-care planning tools, Archer hopes that the DEAR project will be well-received.
