The Lizzie Borden Chronicles

The Dalhousie Costume Studies Program’s talent is currently on display at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Museum in Los Angeles, in an annual exhibit which drew 50,000 visitors last year. The costume crew for The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, a miniseries filmed in Halifax from October 2014 to February 2015, is predominantly made up of Dalhousie alumni.Deanna Anthony

The FIDM Museum has added three pieces from The Lizzie Borden Chronicles to its newest exhibit, alongside costumes from well-known series such as The Mindy Project, Gotham and Suits. Bethana Briffett (DCS’99), costume set supervisor for the Chronicles, notes what an exciting opportunity it is for the crew to have their work displayed with such prominent costumes. Jennifer Ellis (DCS’97) and Deanna Anthony (CCS’85) (pictured at right posing with one of the costumes) are also among the crew of 35 who created the award-nominated costumes.

The series was planned to film in Halifax before the project’s fashion designer learned of Dal’s Costume Studies Program, but with the program’s focus on 18th and 19th-century costumes and its creation of high-talent alumni, the location could not have been better.
