Diego Ibarra interviewed by CBC

Watch “What’s a storm surge?” (1:13) on CBC news.

Dr. Diego Ibarra (MSc (Oceanography)’03, PhD (Oceanography)’12) called on Atlantic Canadians to help measure Hurricane Arthur’s impact on sea level.

He asked that people visit the nearest beach after the storm, and measure how high debris reached on the shoreline.

The use of an online platform, oceanviewer.org, means Dr. Ibarra can easily collect data from around the region in order to better predict future hurricanes.
