Kate Cayley

Kate Cayley (BA (King’s)’01) has been awarded the 2015 Trillium Book Award for her collection of short stories, How You Were Born. The collection is Cayley’s first, although she has already been honoured for her work in other media, including receiving the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People in 2012 for her novel The Hangman in the Mirror.

With a Combined Honours in Contemporary Studies and Theatre from King’s and Dal, Cayley is now working in Toronto as the Tarragon Theatre’s playwright-in-residence.

As the winner of Ontario’s most prestigious literature award, Cayley will receive a $20,000 prize, supplemented with $2,500 to her publishers for the marketing and promotion of How You Were Born.
