Dr. Cindy Forbes (BSc’80, MD’85, PHM’86) was elected president of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) during the annual meeting in Ottawa on August 19. A member at large of the Dalhousie Medical Alumni Association (DMAA), Dr. Forbes practices family medicine in Fall River, N.S. She previously served as president for Doctors Nova Scotia from 1996-97 before relocating to North Vancouver, B.C.for three years. In addition to her professional contributions and community involvement, Dr. Forbes is an active paddler.

Of her new role, she says, “My goal as president is to identify and promote innovative solutions and positive change for health-care. I’m looking forward to playing an important role in the Canadian Medical Association’s health care transformation initiative.”
