Event Details

Often we think of international development as developed countries in the Global North providing solutions to developing nations in the the Global South. This lecture explores lessons learned from the inspiring community leaders Jeff Schnurr has worked with in East Africa, and how these lessons have been used to make positive change here in Atlantic Canada.

Jeff travelled in over 35 countries and began a tree planting initiative in Tanzania that grew into Community Forests International, spreading the techniques of forest restoration around the globe and has planted over half a million trees in the process. In 2010, the CBC and Manulife named him one of Canada’s Top 10 volunteers.

Part of the Fall 2015 ESS Lecture Series.
