You can’t choose your family, but members of the family business community in Atlantic Canada will choose to gather on May 5 and 6 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Dalhousie University’s Centre for Family Business and Regional Prosperity, its founding sponsor BMO Financial Group and Summit Presenting Sponsor KPMG are excited to host their first Atlantic Canada Family Business Summit on May 5-6, 2016.

The event has been designed to educate and enlighten the family business community on the importance of family business and the contributions it makes to regional prosperity.

Family Business Matters” will bring together members of family businesses and their advisors (bankers, lawyers, accountants, wealth managers and consultants) to learn from guest speakers and interactive sessions.

The jam-packed program includes headliners David Chilton (The Wealthy Barber, Dragon’s Den), Cy Wakeman (Reality Based Leadership), Doug Bolger (Learn2), Doug Box (BoxFamily Advisors) and Pete Luckett (Luckett Vineyards).

Several members of Atlantic Canadian family businesses will join us on stage for our panel discussions. Our research panel will include Sean Murray, President & CEO, Advocate Printing, Gail Penney, President, The Penney Group and Mark Rodd, President & CEO,Rodds Hotels & Resorts. The Succession Stories panel will feature three father and son duos – Wadih Fares and Maurice Fares, W. M. Fares Group, Jack and Scott Flemming, Ocean Contractors and Charles and Matthew MacQuarrie, MacQuarries Pharmasave.

The Summit will conclude with the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) Nova Scotia Chapter’s 20th Annual Peter Wilson Dinner. The event will feature Peter’s son Ian Wilson, and niece, Leslie Wilson, as the guest speakers.
