Soulafa Al-Abbasi (MDE’09) has made a name for herself in Halifax. In 2013, she was included on Halifax Magazine’s list of “power people”, a group of young professionals who are thriving in their respective fields.

Born in Syria, Al-Abbasi came to Dalhousie in 2003. She graduated with her Master’s in Development Economics in 2009.

She is vice-chair of Fusion Halifax, and works for Immigration Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) as an employment specialist.

“I love working at ISANS,” she says. “I call us ISANSonians, as we’re a living community.”
